Please confirm that you will attend the summer school by registering at https://editorialexpress.com/ess2017 no later than April 20, 2017. The registration site will be up and running during the first week of April. If you still have a problem with the registration site after April 10, please contact Claire Sashi (General Manager of Econometric Society) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here are some administrative details: We waiver your registration fee and offer 6 nights of dormitory lodging (check-in on August 6, check-out on August 12) along with breakfast and lunch throughout the Summer School (August 7-11).
The dormitory offers basic accommodation: air conditioned room, internet connection and shared bathroom (for male students). If you prefer to stay off campus for better accommodation, please feel free to do so. We are afraid that we cannot support the lodging off campus. In coming weeks after the registration, the local organizer will provide information about hotels for your convenience. Please communicate with a local organizer through email@example.com regarding questions on lodging and other logistic issues.
We realize of course that you need to cover your other expenses and especially the airfare costs. We hope that your institution will cover those costs. In case your institution does not cover most of the travel expenses, please write to us with full details about the support you receive and you need, by April 10. We have a very small pot of funds provided by Econometric Society to support the travel by young economists, and we may be able to offer small grants of $100-$300 to some of the students for whom it will be crucial.
The Host Institute will provide 6 nights of lodging at the dormitory free of charge. If you prefer to stay off campus for better accommodation, please feel free to do so. We are afraid that we cannot support the lodging off campus.
Lodging is guaranteed from August 6 (check in) to August 12 (check out). If you want to have your room extended, please notify the host institute as early as possible. Extended lodging for one or two days can be arranged at 30,000 KRW per day if rooms are available. Usually, there is strong demand for dormitory rooms.
During the registration, participants will be asked for their preference for lodging and expected check-in and check-out dates. After the registration is complete, based on this information, the Host Institute will contact each participant to have their reservation confirmed.
The dormitory is about 5 minutes walk away from the Lecture Hall. It takes about 20 minutes from the dormitory to the nearest subway station (Hanyang University station, Green Line) on foot. The dormitory offers basic accommodation. Each room is equipped with a window mounted air conditioning unit, a bed, a desk and a closet. At the time of check in, each student can pick up a clean bed sheet, a blanket and a pillow. There is no towel or linen service. Toiletries are not provided.
Male and female students will stay in separate, but adjacent buildings.(Male) Students have to share the shower and the rest room on the same floor.(Female) Each room has a small bath room.
There is a coin operated laundry on each floor. There is a restaurant in the dormitory building. The menu is quite limited. There is a small cafe inside the dormitory, where one can buy pastry and coffee. There is also a small convenience store on the first floor of the main dormitory building.
(A lunch box style breakfast may be provided to students who stay at the dormitory at the lecture hall. But the plan is not finalized at this moment.)
Participants may make their own lodging arrangement. For the convenience of participants, we provide information about two hotels in the following. Please note that this is indicative information. You may be able to find better deals through hotel booking websites. The Host Institute only provides information. Reservation should be made by yourself.
President Hotel is located at the center of Seoul near the City Hall. The campus of Hanyang University can be accessed by a subway (the Green Line Subway). It takes about 30 minutes from the President Hotel to the Lecture Hall by the subway including about 10 minutes’ walk. All the faculty members will stay at the President Hotel during the entire peirod of the summer school.
Holiday Inn Express Seoul Euljirol
Holiday Inn Express Seoul Euljiro is located about 30 minutes away from the Lecture Hall and can be accessed by a subway (the Green Line Subway).
Lunch will be provided by the Host Institute while the Summer School is in session. For students who are staying at the dormitory, the host institute is planning to provide breakfast sandwiches from August 7 to 11. We will notify you the details when they are ready. In addition, coffee and snacks will be provided. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know.
Dinner will not be provided by the Host Institute except for the day of welcome dinmer, which is expected to take place on the first day of the school. There are several on campus restaurants that serve dinner at a reasonable cost (approximately 2 to 4 dollars). The menu is quite limited.
